Animated Sparkles
Tutorial
This tutorial
is for Animation Shop 3, and Jasc Paintshop Pro.
For this tutorial,
we're going to create an animated image, with sparkles on it. It's very pretty
- have a look:

To do this, we
need to start with a base image. I used this one:

In the default
brushes that come with Paintshop Pro, there should be one that looks like
this:

That's the brush
you'll need to use for this. Of course, at that size, it's MUCH too big! So,
you'll need to make it smaller. About size 20 should do it. Now, you also
wont want the brush to be it's default black - select a light colour, like
white, or a very pale blue or yellow. I used a very pale yellow for this,
because it matches the base image.
Now, add a few
little stars to the image. It should look something like this:

Now, you've got
your first image. Save it as a GIF image. Start over again, with the blank
base image, and add some sparkles, save it again. Make sure the sparkles are
in different places as you do it. Repeat this 3 or 4 times, depending on how
much you want it to sparkle. You'll end up with several images:

Now you need
to animate them together. Open Animation Shop. Open the first image you saved
- I named it 'sparkles1.gif', with the subsequent images as 'sparkles2.gif'
and 'sparkles3.gif'. Now you need to add the other frames. Go to Animation>Insert
Frames>From File...

And select the
other images by clicking 'Add File...':

All the images
should be in the animation now. It should look like this:

You will need
to look at the Frame and Animation Properties. They're located under "Animation":

On the 'Frame
Properties...' you'll need to put the Frame display time up to around 10-20.
On the Animation Properties, you'll need to check out the 'Looping' tab, and
make sure that "Repeat the animation indefinitely" is checked.

You can now save
the image! Go through the Gif optimizer, and make sure everything is the way
you want it to be. I used the full quality option, and it turned out like
this:
