Rainbow
Effect Tutorial
This tutorial
is for Adobe Photoshop 7.
For this tutorial,
we're going to create a rainbow effect, like this:

Now, it's easier
than it looks! First, we'll start with a basic background, I used this:

Now, select Layer>New Fill Layer>Gradient...:

A new window will pop up. We're going to call this new layer
'rainbow'. Set the mode to Overlay. Leave the opacity at 100%. These options
can be changed later.

Another window will pop up once you click OK. This is where
you set your gradient options. Click the arrow to drop down the gradient options
- select the gradientcalled 'transparent rainbow' - outlined in black here.

Now you need to set the other options for the gradient. Select
Linear style (you can go with one of the other styles if you wish - feel free
to have a look through them!), and set the angle to 120. Again, these are
optional - you can set the angle to any way you wish. I've set the scale to
120 so the transparent edges are cut off the end of the image - depending
on which gradient you use, you can set the scale to 100, less, or more, depending
on what you want.

The finished image will look like this:

You can of course play with the layer modes, and the opacity.
Have fun with it! :)
