Outlining Text Tutorial

This tutorial is for Jasc Paintshop Pro.

For this tutorial, we're going to create something like this:

In order to do this, you need to create a text layer. Make sure that the "antialias" box isnt checked - this can prevent the outlining from looking right. Once you've got the text on, it should look like this:

Now, you have to convert the text (Vector) layer to a Raster layer. In order to do this, you have to go to the "Layers" box, right click on the text layer, and select "Convert to Raster layer", like this:

Now you have to copy the text layer, by going Edit>Copy. Then, you need to paste the text layer as a selection, by going Edit>Paste>As New Selection:

You then need to place the selection directly over the text, so it lines up completely:

Then, you need to expand the selection by one pixel. Do this by going Selection>Modify>Expand...

You then need to select the layer under the text layer:

And you need to colour in the selected part of that layer with the colour you want to outline the text with (black in this case):

And then all you have to do is Selections>Select None, and you've got your finished product. You can then save the image.
