Brushes Tutorial

This tutorial is for Painshop Pro. (The caps are from PSP8, but it also works in PSP7)

This tutorial will show you how to make Brushes for Paintshop Pro.

First, create a new image with a white background, 500x500 pixels if you're running PSP8, or 255x255 if you're running PSP7. I'm going to use a smaller image, so it's quicker to load.

The reason it has to be one of those sizes is because thats the maximum size for brushes in PSP.

Onto the blank canvas, you can draw whatever you want your brush to look like. For example:

Make sure you're using blacks and shades of grey for your image. Brushes cant contain colours.

Now you have your brush. Now all you need to do is define it. Select all of the image:

Select the Brush tool (). Go to the brush selection. It should look like this (in PSP7 it looks slightly different, but the concept is the same):

Click on the 'Create brush tip from selection' button. Another window should popup, looking like this:

You just need to put in a name for your Brush, and you're sorted. Click okay, and you can use the brush to your hearts content.

You can use the brush with different colours to create brand new images. He's something I threw together quickly using the brush made in this tutorial:
