Blinking Text
(Animation) Tutorial
This tutorial
is for Jasc Animation Shop.
First, you'll
need to make an icon, or whatever it is you want the text to blink on. For
this, I'm going to use an icon I've already made:

Open Animation
Shop, and open the image (File>Open...) in the program. It should look
like this:

Next, you need
to Duplicate the selected image (refered to as a 'frame' in animations). Do
this by going to Edit>Duplicate Selected.

You can do this
once, or twice, depending on how many frames you want. I'm going to use four
frames, so the blinking is more gradual. With four frames, the animation looks
like this:

Now, on F1 (frame
1), is the base colour for the text. I'm going to change the text to a bright
orange, and then come back to red. F3 will be bright orange, and F2 and F4
will be a colour in between. Do this by selecting the Brush tool, and setting
the width to one pixel:

It's a good idea
to zoom in quite alot. I've zoomed in to 6:1 ( ).
Then, you need to colour in F3 - make sure you have the correct frame selected!

Because of the
image I've used, there's alot of red, so I cant use a colour replacer, so
I have to change the colour manually. If you've chosen an image that has a
unique colour for the text, you can use the colour replacer. You do this by
selecting the frames you want to change the colour in, and going Animation>Replace
Colour...

Once you've selected
that, another box will pop up:

All you need
to do is select the colour you want to be replaced, and the colour you want
to replace it with. Click OK, and it'll be done!
Now, you should
have an image like this:

You will need
to look at the Frame and Animation Properties now. They're located under "Animation":

On the 'Frame
Properties...' you'll need to put the Frame display time up to around 10-20.
On the Animation Properties, you'll need to check out the 'Looping' tab, and
make sure that "Repeat the animation indefinitely" is checked.
Now all you have
to do is save it! Simply go File>Save As... and follow the animation Wizard,
which makes it very simple...! You'll end up with a blinking image like this:
